Interac Email Money Transfers let you send and receive money quickly and easily right out of - or right into - your bank accounts.
If you bank in Canada with BMO Bank of Montreal, CIBC, RBC Royal Bank, Scotiabank,
or TD Canada Trust, you will be able to send the world's first, interbank-based Interac Email
Money Transfers. This service is provided by CertaPay.
It is free to receive an Interac Email Money Transfer but each bank charges differently
for sending so check with your bank.
The deposit usually takes 3-5 business days to process and a $2.50 fee will be deducted from the deposit amount.
Security
Several measures have been built into the application to ensure the protection of both your accounts and your personal information, including:
- Confidential, bank-issued user IDs and passwords.
- 128-bit browser encryption.
- Security Question and Response to ensure only the
intended recipient can deposit the transfer. As the sender, you must remember
the Question and Response as you will be sending that in a personal email informing
the recipient so they can then go to their on-line bank and type in the response
to the question.

It is important to stress that only the email notification travels over the Internet.
Money does not, but rather, it is transferred through existing payment networks
that banks have used for years to settle cheques and bank machine deposits and
withdrawals.
The funds in an Interac Email Money Transfer always reside safely at a bank and
never travel by email. The email is only a notification about the transaction.
Your bank and your recipient's bank transfers the funds the way they always have
for years - through existing interbank settlement arrangements. That is why
it is secure. That is why it is a real-time transaction.
To send money, you must have on-line access to an account at one of the participating
financial institutions below, then click on a bank icon to see how it works:
 To send an Interac Email Money Transfer:
1. Sign in to BMO Bank of Montreal Online Banking.
2. Choose 'Transfers' from the main menu.
3. Click the 'Interac Email Money Transfers' tab.
 To send
an Interac Email Money Transfer:
1. Login to CIBC Convenience Banking
2. Choose 'Transfers' from the main menu
3. Click 'Interac Email Money Transfer' on the side menu
4. Follow the prompts
to send money.
 To send an Interac Email Money Transfer:
1. Login to Online Banking
2. Choose 'Pay bills & transfer funds' from the Self Service menu
3. Enter the amount, click the 'Send Interac Email Money Transfer' radio button and click the 'Submit' button
4. Follow the prompts to send money.

1. Sign in to Scotia OnLine
2. Choose 'Banking' from the main menu
3. Click 'Interac Email Money Transfer' on the side menu
4. Follow the prompts to send money.
